A mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced
Accounting Lead / Senior Accountant to oversee funder financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management. This role works closely with program and leadership staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and informed decision-making.
The Accounting Lead is responsible for managing core accounting functions with a strong emphasis on grant and funder reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting compliance requirements, and providing clear financial insight to non-financial stakeholders across the organization.
Compensation: $28 - $30/hr Key Responsibilities - Serve as the primary point of contact for funder financial reporting
- Ensure all financial reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time
- Reconcile accounts and maintain the general ledger
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with program and leadership staff
- Monitor budget performance and proactively flag variances
- Track grant budgets, expenditures, and performance within the accounting system
Expected Results - Timely and error-free financial and grant reporting
- Accurate budgets that align with organizational and program goals
- Clear communication of financial data to internal stakeholders
- Strong financial controls supporting compliance and audit readiness
Skills Required - Strong understanding of expense allocation methodology
- Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-financial staff
- Proven ability to build collaborative, cross-departmental relationships
- Comfortable navigating multiple accounting and reporting software platforms
Experience Required - 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
- At least 2 years in a lead or senior accounting role
- Experience with 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) preferred
Qualities Required - Keen attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines independently
- Responsive and service-oriented approach to internal stakeholders
Education Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA candidate or progress toward certification a plus
Physical Requirements - Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
