Lab Assistant I

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented  Lab Assistant I to support daily operations in a high-volume, production-based clinical laboratory environment. This role plays a vital part in the clinical lab testing process by ensuring specimens are accurately received, prepared, and processed in accordance with established quality and safety standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receive, accession, and sort clinical laboratory specimens
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
  • Scan and perform data entry of specimen and patient information
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
  • Troubleshoot specimen-related issues as they arise
  • Replenish bench supplies and maintain inventory levels
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Complete required record logs and administrative documentation
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet safety, regulatory, and quality requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in a medical, laboratory, or production-based environment required
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols
Work Environment
  • High-volume clinical laboratory
  • Team-oriented, production-focused setting
  • Standing and repetitive tasks required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
